About Melissa

I am the mother of four active children. Each of their births were unique, from an induction to a home water birth, and each taught me the value and importance of labor support. I view pregnancy and birth as normal and healthy events for most women. I also believe every woman should have positive support people around her during such a life changing event of giving birth, no matter how she chooses to birth.

I received a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Social Work from the University of Toledo in 2001 and I am currently licensed (LSW) in the state of Ohio. I received my professional doula training and certification from Childbirth International (CBI). I am also a member of DONA International. I currently serve as a co-leader for the Troy, OH chapter of Dar a Luz Network. I continue to read, research and self-educate on pregnancy and birth related topics. Birth is my passion! I strive to encourage all women to seek out their options in order to achieve the birth she desires. As someone once said to me; "if you don't know your options you don't have any."
